CRYING IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL... and let me tell you why
Crying is a normal human response to a whole range of emotions that can have health and social benefits, including pain relief and self-soothing effects... crazy right!
Let me shed some light on this topic...
On average woman cry 3.5 times per month, while men cry 1.9 times per month.
Humans are the only animal to shed tears and we actually shed three different types of tears!
Basal - we are constantly secreting these protein-rich antibacterial tears that help keep the eye clean and moist
Reflex - these tears are triggered by environmental effects such as wind, smoke and onions. These tears are released to protect and to clean the eye quickly
Emotional - these are the tears we think of when we think tears. These are caused by joy, sadness, depression... any emotion. These tears are kind of special... because they actually contain stress hormones!
WHY CRYING IS GOOD
💧 Soothing for the soul. Helps regulate emotion, calm to person and reduce distress by activating PNS system
💧 Asking indirectly for support. This is a attachment behavior and is common in everyone
💧 Pain Relief. When you cry your body releases oxytocin and endorphins which assist with numbing the pain receptors in your body
💧 Enhancing Moods. As states above with the chemical release these two chemicals are also important because they create happiness! Or the feeling of happy!
💧 Sleep Aid. Due to the claiming, mood enhancing, pain releasing effects it is without a doubt that crying assists with sleeping
💧 Improves Vision by keeping the membrane in your eye moist and from drying out
💧 Fights Bacteria! Tears contain lysozyme which is a powerful antimicrobial, which is known to kill anthrax
FULL DISCLOSURE - MY MENTAL HEALTH HAS NOT BEEN GOOD LATELY, TWO WEEKS AGO I HAD TO ASK FOR SOME ASSISTANCE FROM MY FAMILY DOCTOR. WE DECIDED IT WAS BEST FOR ME TO BE PUT ON SOME MEDICATION TO TEMPORARILY CALM MY MIND. WITH BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER, MY MIND RUNS FULL TILT 100% OF THE TIME. THE MEDIATION IS TO ASSIST WITH SLEEP AND BALANCING OF MOODS. SO FAR IT IS HELPING SO VERY MUCH! and please remember - if you are struggling too that you are not alone. You are not alone!
